About Us
Mark Raisler has been
spending his summers on the Missouri River for the last 16
years...he never found a good reason to leave. And why would he.
Mark's infatuation of the Missouri was solidified during his
first trip to the river...he only caught one fish. That will
drive a trout fisherman nuts. Over the years he, like many
career trout bums, has moved through the ranks as a certified
casting instructor, commercial fly tier, guide, outfitter, and
finally shop owner. He has a deeply rooted physiological
attachment to the Missouri...just ask him. It is often
been said that Mark will bullshit with anyone, and if he wasn't
guiding for a living, he'd be standing on the side of the road
bullshittin' somebody for free. Mark guides from a
Clackacraft Low Pro Guide Model and loves soggy rods. He claims
that any self respecting Mo river fish will eat a LaFontaine's
Buzz Ball and is commonly seen pushing a random bar patron to
fish his favorite fly.
John Arnold has
been a full time guide his entire adult life. He began
guiding during summers in college, and his education paid dearly
for it. Over 20 years of guiding has taught John one thing; it's
what he was meant to do. John guided for 8 years in Sun
Valley, ID, and has guided in Montana for 13 years. In
2000 he started his own outfitting business, and like Mark, has
followed the natural downward progression to fly shop owner.
Though he loves to dry fly fish, he detests those obsessed with
matching the hatch and prefers to think outside the box.
John does not own a rod lighter than a 5 weight, and you'd be
hard pressed to find a spool of 7X in his boat bag. As a
young guide he swore he'd never become a "bitter, grumpy, old
guide". Well, at least he's not lazy yet...
John has been married to his wife Julie for 12 years, and they
have a 3 year old daughter, Adair. Julie is an integral
part of Headhunters, and it could not exist without her.
Julie can also throw a very tight loop... |
