Headhunters Abroad – New Zealand
Ben Bolden is back… or was. Our talented photographisherman friend was back in Craig, trout bumming around, taking pics and eating up our bandwidth uploading photos to his website. Ben sent us this great image from last winter in New Zealand. Will the Headhunters cap replace the “All Blacks” cap as the preferred Kiwi fly fishing hat? Only time will tell. If you want to check out more of Ben’s great photography, check out his website at www.benbolden.com.
It’s All Good ’til You Touch ‘em
So says Scumliner in reference to the Copper King. Yes the MRF is holding there annual Carp Rodeo again this coming weekend, Saturday August 14th. Drift, powerboat or wade anglers who enter the competition may flyfish from Pelican Point to Ulm. Prizes for most and biggest fish just like a real fishing tournament. You can get an entry form at Headhunters, Big R, the Trout Shop, and Crosscurrents. You can compete as a 3 man boat team or as an individual. Come on down and support, well… I guess we’re supporting Carp Fishing?

Superguide
“It takes just a little bit more to be a Superguide”. Guide Mitch Kowalski shows us why he is one. All on dry flies, by the way…

BBQ Guru
Here’s an image from Mark Raisler’s new book, “How Not to Add Briquettes to a BBQ That’s Already on Fire”. If our insurance man is reading this, it did not take place in front of Headhunters…

Hot Dog anyone?
New Product – FISHSTIK
Our buddy Larry Barber recently brought us one of his new products, the Fishstik. Mark and John have used this type of measuring device for years, usually the crappy plastic one designed for Walleye fishing that can be found at your local box store. The Fishstik is a much better product for several reasons. The soft foam/plastic construction is easier on fish, and it floats. It’s also flexible, making it easier to stow under your boat seat or in a side compartment. The best reason to use this type of device is that trout go dead calm when placed in the cradle. You can dip the Fishstik in the water before you measure your fish (or better yet, measure him in the water), something you probably won’t do with your cooler lid. Get an accurate measurement and treat your trophy with respect. The Fishstik measures out to 25″. If he’s bigger than that, who cares? We’ve got them in stock right now for $25…
