Labor Day Delight

Get yer Sausages here at Headhunters...

Good Morning Headhunters…

The day after a great night in Craig Montana. Fly Sale is complete at Headhunters, and we sold a ton, or about a pound of flies…at 50% off, who could pass it up. Lots of boxes were stocked for the fall yesterday…hooray!

Izaak’s was rocking til late last night with music on the Log Jam…it was enjoyed by a large crowd, and they were on their best behavior, no unruly mob scenes.

Some lodging and guide availability at Headhunters, but not much. We will see you here…for sure on Sunday for the fly sale.

Headhunters open all weekend for flies, shuttles, new fly rods, waders…

Trico’s

Trico's still near the dam

There are a few rising fish in the upper reaches. Be on time, 9-11 am, and look for our sipping celebrities. The rainbow and the brown. Both famous in their own right.

Soggy Sunday Scenery

Western Showy Aster | Aster conspicuus | Aster Family

I must be well rounded and in touch, because this is my favorite wildflower. It’s one of the reasons girls flock to me at the boat ramp…

If you believe that, I have some cheap Missouri riverfront property for sale.

Second cutting on the Oxbow a few weeks ago. A third cutting is growing as we speak. This rain will help things. Not at all hot this summer, not one day @ or over 100F. Nice.

The next big insect, or small, on our incredible resource. When will it happen? Well, I’ll tell ya. Not until October. We, meaning me, always believes that by some sort of autumn miracle the bugs will come early. Never, another pipe dream. Yet, another.

Saturday Autumn Primer

Still...

Autumn has arrived. We welcome it. Although, the summer has not been oppressive. Nor hot.

Quite a few folks around for the latter part of August. When September arrives, so will the people, more that is.

Tom from Texas tellin'....

Tom, Dale, and Dale fished with Squeeky yesterday. They need a break today.

Dale said to me, “Boy, you sure do know a lot about this river, and…you sure talk a lot. I think you were probably quieter when you smoked a carton of Camels daily.”

The river is quiet, fishing wise. Not so hot. Good in the upper locales, a decent from there down. Guys are fishing everywhere, with varying results.

Better in September. We’ll see you then. Book now for lodging, and certainly for guide choice.
