Missouri River Montana Fishing Report 10.10.16

Currently snowing on this Missouri River Montana Fishing Report 10.10.16 morning.

About an inch on the ground and the weather forecasters predict even more on the way for the next 36 hrs.

Then Wednesday? Sun.

Until then true fall like conditions persist. What does that mean? It means damn good fishing on the Missouri River. Good streamer fishing, great nymphing, and an afternoon filled with dry fly opportunities.

No need to rush out before you are ready. On days like these fishing from the car coupled with wade fishing is a fantastic idea. Fish for a bit, then retreat to the vehicle driving around drinking a spot of coffee until your toes warm up. Then find a few sippers to cast at.

The water temps are falling into the mid 50’s and our trout are super hot right now. The flows are holding in the mid 3000’s as well. Good conditions for the remainder of the month.

All reaches fishing well too. A good time to head down to Cascade. A streamer and dry fly mecca…on the right day. Today may be that day. Always check the wind report when heading farther north. Not always a good place to be during gusty and winds from the north. Makes a long day for sure.

The canyon is fishing quite well with fewer weeds to contend with. The entire river is relatively weed free. Some will attach themselves to your streamer pattern but not enough to drive you to the bottle.

We cannot state how fortunate we are to spend time fishing and living near the Missouri River. The fall brings it all closer to our hearts. A lovely time of year. Shorter days, longer nights. Good fishing all the way around.

Stop in an see us anytime. Open daily 7am-8pm.
