Not too bad for the upcoming weekend. The weather, the water, and the fishing. Not too bad.
The fishing is by no means red hot. Nor white hot. It is OK. Although I would qualify it better than mediocre.
Great weather today on the river. No wind, and mid-30′s.
Flows are holding in the low 5000′s and water temps are in the low 34′s.
John and Mark fished Thursday afternoon and tossed a few streamers, jigged a few blackish jigs, and tested the waters with some demo flies.
Success? Some. Did not catch a fish over 12 inches. A few wild, a few hatchery clones.
Pink was the key for the nymphs. Surprise. Small or large.Your choice. SOft takes again, and hit all of the movements that may occur.
Super slow streamer stripping is the key. They may or may not eat the streamer. Swinging it and encouraging slow presentations to those very cold fish is the ticket.
Jigging? Try it, you may like it. We have a few new jugs in the shop arsenal for those so inclined.
Dry fly fishing. John spotted several fish poking their noses up. Near banks in super soft water. Also, mid river fish wandering and sipping something near the surface.
Also a few whitey sightings. They are rolling amongst the trout.
Should be ok for the weekend. We are always open here in Craig for any of your river needs. The river has been receiving reduced pressure do to the skiing crowd. I think.
Come have fun on America’s premier tail-water with not many folks around. You might like it.

John a bobber?……….still a cracker I guess
