“The Tug” fly fishing video site and Orvis Film Event in Missoula

Orvis has just launched a fly fishing video website called “The Tug” that they have been working on for the past year. The idea? To create a place where the best in fly fishing video can be viewed without filtering through loads of funny home vid’s and tutorials on replacing the RAM in your computer.

Simon Perkins just sent me the link to check out. I love the simple interface and clean navigation. The site is definitely set up for “browsing” videos, and most video nuts I know like it that way. As long as you don’t have to watch all the episodes of “Shit Girls Say” to get there.

“Fly fishing video is getting more and more popular every day.  We wanted to offer anglers an online experience where they can browse and enjoy content from around the world of fly fishing.  The Tug will live as a resource for people to entertain and educate themselves, as we feature video shorts from independent film makers as well as video chapters from our online Fly Fishing Learning Center.  We created it because we thought it would be a cool way to celebrate the sport and provide some enjoyment for everyone from the die-hards to those new to the sport.”Through the Orvis video initiative, the team in Vermont has had a chance to work with some of the best fly fishing film makers in the business. And lesser skilled ones like myself. – Simon Perkins

You can also see all of the product and how-to video’s produced by Orvis.

Expect to see loads of additional content soon.

“Down The Hatch” Fly Fishing Festival – April 19

Also, if you haven’t heard about the “Down The Hatch” event Orvis is sponsoring in Missoula next month, you should check it out. Coinciding with the 2013 Orvis Guide Rendezvous, “Down the Hatch” is open to the public. The fly fishing festival starts at 2:00pm, followed by a film festival at the Wilma Theatre. I expect that you will see some excellent films.

This should be a great time for all. Check our blog to keep posted on the event, and the best place is always at the Orvis Blog.
