Cooler and windy. Maybe some snow tomorrow morning too.
BWO’s going good. Midges good as well.
But Jeff Parker told me that “Midges don’t matter.” On the surface he means. Subsurface? A huge deal.
Yes midges do matter on the surface. Sometimes. In specific situations. The trout will eat a midge dry even if they are not keying in on the moving mattresses of midge!
Big fish out there. May is our best big brown trout month. Honest. If April was any sort of foreshadowing we are in for a big month!
March Browns and Caddis are on the way as the water temps rise.
The water levels are up too. 7500 cfs today. Rain and snow in the mountains have pushed our water levels upward ahead of schedule. Still shooting for the full pool in Canyon Ferry in late June.
Temps will rise a bit but it is a bit tougher wight he water coming up.
Our Spring Special is in the books for another year. Our highly successful model propels the local community putting many to work and pumping up our local river economy. 6 years ago 15 guide trips in April. Today the complexion is much different.
