Missouri River Christmas Fishing Tips

Missouri River Christmas Fishing Tips

A couple Missouri River Christmas Fishing Tips for all of the Holiday  Anglers out there today on the Headhunters Fly Shop Blog.

Headhunters Fly Shop Holiday Hours: Open today Monday 8-5. Christmas Ever Tuesday 8-Noon. The rest of the week open 8-5. New Years Day? Ohh, maybe a bit late but certainly by 9-ish. Polar Bear Dip at High Noon on New Years Day in Craig. Drinks and Chili cook-off to follow at Joe’s Bar.

Trout Spey: Scandi and Skagit are players. Check out John’s recent report here. All you need to know. The long and short is leeches in deep softer buckets with SA TC Tips of RIO iMOW. But do not discount the Scandi game in some fo those wide open flats. Come by for the up to the minute Swing Report. It has been real good.

Nymphing: Damn good. Deep and slow. With or without split shot. Pink. Sows. Scuds. Worms. Midges.

Dry Fly: Midges out there. Sporadic. But look around in those back eddies and find that roaming trout. A cluster midge that you can see, or a big Adams, tailed with a midge emerger, a Zebra, and the like.

Location: Upper river is king in the winer months. Most are fishing above Stickney Creek. Or Spite Hill. Nothing wrong with Dam to Wolf Creek or Craig. Craig to Stickney? Grand.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas from all of us here at Headhunters of Craig. Be safe. Enjoy your friends and family. And come fishing on the Mo to break up those in-laws invading your living room…
