Missouri River Late September Fishing Report

Missouri River Sunday Fishing Report 9.17.23

Missouri River Sunday Fishing Report 9.17.23

Water flows currently 4960 cfs. Water temps currently 63F. All good here on the Mo.

Weeds not terrible. average is about where the feel this level is. Some insides nice and clean. Cleaner nearer Holter Dam. In about a month we will witness the decline of weeds throughout the system.

Swingers are clamoring around sneaking into aforementioned  locales. Strippers too. A nice flow for both parties. A bundle of Thin Mints left the shop this morning.

Nymphers be rowing ’round at the dam. Historically good through there month, then the dam region becomes less attractive to most. Zebra is king. Zirdle still making a move. The lower regions are known. for larger bugs int he fall as well. Big PT, little PT. Short leash technique is quite popular in the fall. Deep int eh morning, short in the afternoon. Not a new concept.

Not many dry fly anglers out there. Fishing hoppers does not qualify for that statement. Lots of fellas tossing big fluffy flies int he afternoon. Techy dry fly anglers few and far between. And there are some jewels just begging for attention int he hallowed waters of the Mighty Mo.

Tons of anglers fishing the hopper and ant int he pm. If you want to change it up, disturb the flow, and fish an Adams. Callibaetis like the love too. A sunken caddis dangling form the large Adams? Purple Haze?

Cooler the week ahead. Come on out and enjoy the autumn on the Missouri.
