Missouri River Montana Weekend Fishing Report

Getting revved up for the big Weekend ahead. Not much to talk about other than the fishing. It is good. Or at least some of the time. Really depends on your skill set. Commonly, certainly when the fish do not want to go on a feeding bender where they eat everything that passes by their mouth, the fishing is as good as you are. We have arrived at that satge once again.

Fish will drive you to drink. Sometimes happily.

So what is happening on the Mighty Mo’? Just the regular too warm fall stuff. The days have been warm, save for some pretty windy, really damn windy…afternoons. Too warm I might add. We like some sort of hint that winter is around the bend. Like overcast skies and baetis going nuts at 145pm daily.

We are reminded nightly with the ALCS and the NLCS on the boobtube that we are in the fall time frame. Wintery afternoons with some freezing, or near, temps would get us ramped up for the real BWO. Hopefully coming to your, no our, river soon.

I like wandering into Izaak’s for a Hot Toddy, or three, after getting the job done tossing streamers all morning long , then lunching, then hunting heads til dark pushes you to the bar.

Is that too much to ask?

Missouri River Water Flows and Temps

Flows int he 4K range and should be stable for a while. Good flows for this time of year. Right at the 68 year average. If you are keeping track. So the fish are adjusted to this flow. Water temps are falling slowly too. Please come out big bugs. Big BWO’s.

Missouri River Weekend Weather

[forecast]

Way too sunny for my liking. It is damn pleasant with these blue skies and warmer daytime temps, but not too good for the non eye lidded trout. I guess we will have to fish anyway…
