Monday Morning in Central Montana

Continued hot weather as we move through the remainder of July. July is the hottest month of the year for us in central Montana.

Nest month August is a couple degrees cooler. 92F is the lowest high temp this week. Today forecast 93F. Cooling

Water temps are warm. Too hot? Not yet. We will be monitoring and making sure we are off the water when the temps are above 68F-70F. Use your thermometer.

Hopper fishing not too bad. Center river and moving water is the key to success. Purple is hot. Tan is good. Pink? Pink always produces. Color the hopper up and mottle it for additional fun. Red legs?

Ants are good. Trout love ants. Cinnamon? Black? Red? Combo? We got ants and hoppers galore. The Best Flies Under the Big Sky here at HH of Craig.

Floaters are Holter Dam to Cascade. Shuttles available daily at Headhunters of Craig Montana. Don’t want to swing in the shop? Call your shuttle in if you wish.

Weekenders are floating about noontime. Floaties and Flamingo’s. We love them! They certainly have a different objective than we do as anglers. And that is OK. Go early and you will be off about the time. Rivers are for everybody. All comers. We share with all.
