MId Week Fishing Report Missouri River Montana July15th

Trico’s later than normal every morning with the cooler weather this mid week coupled with lots of rain. Thank Mother Nature for the soak. Later start times for those after the White-Winged Black. Clusters and spinners win the battle, mostly.

PMD’s still a factor. Big ones too. The 14 is on the plate with 16’s and 18’s too. Female and male spinners are daily food sources. Got a couple on a cripple this past week too.

Caddis. Love to fish the caddis. Corn Fed, VDoubel Duck, Pal Fred Caddis, Hi-Viz Spent Caddis, All Stages Caddis is killer, Mimic Sedge, Translucent Pupa or Emerger, Splitsville Caddis, Spent Wing Partridge, and the Missing Link Caddis.

Water flows 3950cfs and 60F.

Most anglers on the upper river reaches. Weeds certainly ahead of schedule as are the insect hatch cycles. About 2-3 weeks ahead of the seasonal norms. Stagger your start times or fishing periods to stay out of the mix. If you know what the rest are doing you can run contrary to the norms. Think about it man.

Nymphers battling the weed flow while dredging the Zirdle. Mayflies and caddis pupa’s can lead the show along with small mayfly patterns on the bottom. Short and long will both get fish to the net.

Shop open daily 6am. Free perked coffee about 630 am. Takes the percolator that long to brew rot gut ground coffee to near perfection. Shuttles, sunscreen, sun shirts galore, Sage, Orvis, Loomis, Echo and Epic FastGlass Rods available for sale and Demo.
