Missouri River Fishing Report from Craig Montana
All good as we head into the month of October. Immediately we are seeing more bugs in the air in the water and on the line.
Water temps begin to fall until the beginning of the new year. Currently 62F. Currently 3000 cfs.
Common flies include the menagerie of Sow Bugs, BWO and Pseudo nymphs including the offerings of the Euro Style. Zirdlesw have past us and the Callibeatis is gone. Now just a few October Caddis and lots of tiny BWO’s.
Adams have been enough to get the fish to the surface. Soon tiny BWO CDC patterns including the cripple will rise.
Hoppers still bringing a few to the surface as well. We like Purple, tan, grey.
Streamer anglers are getting happier. Thin Mints and black, brown, and olive. Our vast streamer selection will keep you stripping all the way through the fall streamer season. How about a new streamer fly line? Check it out online at CraigFlySHop.com for the best in fly lines!
We just love the fall period. Call us up if you need an up to the minute fishing report. We are here 364 days a year.
Guide trips, riverside lodging available, swing trips with awesome instructors and guides available all fall long.
The fishing getting better everyday. Cooler water temps will bring better and better fishing as the insects ramp up, the bite improves, and the smiles widen.
Have a great weekend and let’s hope you spend it outside with family!
