Sunday, and all is well.

Thankfully the ski areas on the west coast are finally open and operating. Hooray! A late start for the ski industry that many in the fishing biz have spent some time, years, during the opposite season. The winter season. But, there is very little white stuff out there and none on the trough here locally.

A few spits of snow YTD, season to date, here in Craig int he shadows of the Rocky Mountain front. No issues at boat ramp. No restrictions. Not much water int ehhill though. Water temps at the 37F mark. Quite fishable.

And many are doing just that. Fishing. Lots of anglers on the water yesterday and lots of shuttles provided by Headhunters of Craig. Open daily 8am. All services available!

Current fishing report? It’s pretty good out there. The swing bite has been quite steady. Skagit line dipping into the buckets holding trout. Find that winter bliss which points towards slow moving and deeper water locations. End of runs, insides of bends…winter water. Those fishing Summer type waters, near banklines, rip rap, moving riffles, and the like are getting cold hands, cold feet, and dry nets.

Sparkle laden streamers have been getting attention. Follow day drab olive, brown, or black leech patterns. Both for the swingers and strippers.

Nymphers like boring waters too. Deeper, back end pools. Run several casts and presentations before changing depth first. Then location in the pool. Then fly. Finding the fish is first on the list.

Look us up this week if wandering the neighborhood. Book your spring or summer trip today. Peak times are slipping away.

Happy Sunday!
