Missouri River Fishing Report Veterans Day November 11

3K for the water level along with 48F water temps.

Calm and overcast for the forecast tomorrow Wednesday. Wind will be with us for the remainder of this day and it blew truly hard yesterday as well.

Some BWO action on the surface. Some tan mayfly we have not seen often out there. Still have not ID’d it. Been fishing the 14-18 Cripple patterns. Have also fished the Parachute Adams, or parachute patterns olive bodied or purple bodied. Have executed some good drifts with a PMD Cripple that resembles the tan mayfly we are seeing in a few numbers.

Nymphers love to toss a sowbug below a Little Green Machine, Two Bit Hooker…or things like a Fruit Roll-Up Leech pattern. Black or olive or purple. Try both unweighted flies and see what happens.

Swingers loving it the fall session. Scandi still happening. Swing two soft hackles? A wet fly and a soft hackle? Come by and get some help from our Trout Spey friendly staff at HH of Craig. The best in education with casting lessons and swing guide trips available any day this fall and winter. Call or stop in for info, flies, tips, the best selection in Trout Spey Fly Lines in the Tri-County area!

Strippers out there too. Sink tips or not. This last week have tossed an Intermediate/Type 3/Type 5 line. An intermediate sink line. A dry line. Choose your depth with the fly line. Some use the fly. But understanding the subsurface structures and getting the fly to the zone is damn important. Fish don’t eat the fly, if they cannot seed the fly. Truth!

Headhunters Fly Shop in Downton Craig Montana open daily 8am.
