Do you throw a dart, at a dart board, with a wide looping round motion?
No. Answer is no. Nor do you follow the path of a Rainbow with your rod tip if you want to cast properly. And very improtanatly, move forward.
This is a stepping stone move. You cannot move toward, get better or longer or straighter or anything, other than stall out if you draw the fly rod in a not straight path.
And no, there are not lots of ways to cast a fly rod properly. No, that is not style sir. That is bad casting technique. Try to toss that fly 30’ with impproper casting technique(s) And, I dare you to land the fly with in 5’ of your previous cast, while employing a round rainbow casting rod tip travel motion.
Rod Tip must travel in a straight line.
