June Fly Fishing Tips for all

Craig Mornings…

June Fly Fishing Tips for all who attend in June ‘25

  1. All day long. You can fish all day long with early sunrise a late sunset. You do not have to fish along with the rest of the anglers. Go really early, call in your shuttle on the river. Go late. Dump the boat in, or head out wade fishing at 4pm, when the rest are taking out.

  2. Dry Fly Anglers like the cripple and spinner for the PMD. A down winged caddis will do it as well. I like pMD mornings, caddis afternoons. You?

  3. Dry Fly Anglers also like any slack line cast you desire to toss. The easy fish are coming to an end. TH fish that would chase bad and dragging drifts. those fish have smartened up now. Alas, good angling will prevail.

  4. Nymphers like the Frenchie. They also like good drag free drifts. PMD’s make good baits subsurface. Have an arsenal of flies at your fingertips as you may get stumped occasionally in this great mid summer hatch. Split Case, Crack Backs, any cool slender brown or black Euro nymph, Little Green Machine, Red Headed Step Child…

  5. Swingers like the Scandi line today. Swing a PMD emerger and have some real fun. Or a Pheasant Tail Soft Hackle of some sort. I like a Black Ribbed Soft Hackle size 16.

  6. Try a new reach with your drifter. You wife will like the change too.

  7. Carry a couple dry fly rods as you may like the freedom of having two differing fly patterns rigged. Or three? Or…

  8. Have fun. Fishing is about fun, fellowship, friendship, and the great outdoors. Act accordingly. Be polite. Carry yourself like an outdoorsman. With dignity and respect for the land and waters we live and enjoy.
