June Fishing Report Headhunters of craig montana

Terry seeking greatness on Montana’s Missouri River. Lifetime local Terry can fish with the best of them. A dedicated trout soul!

Fishing is fantastic. We rarely state that out loud.

Mid June. Choose your reach. Choose your tactics.

Enjoy the outcome one way or the other.

Sunshine is wonderful. Summer bugs like sunshine. Fly flippers too..

Overcast Monday with a slow start to the bite. By 11am hugs began to move. Getting off at 5pm with threat of violent t-storm leaving most of the trout in this river engaged in poush-up behaviors.

Mostly PMD’s and the associated patterns of cripples and spinners. I fish flies we all can see.

Some downriver are tossing the down-winged caddis fly with attention.

I guess there are anglers nymphing. Today would be the day, or 3 weeks ago, to give that dry fly gig a whirl.

Do it. All your friends are.

Toss it out there. See what happens.

See you casting at a couple on the river. See me casting at a couple, as well.

Both smiling.
