PMD and caddis lead the charge

PMD and Caddis lead the charge for the dry fly set. Top to bottom things are happening fascinating the few top water fanatics. Spinners, cripples and emergers are what is for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Slack line casts prevail. Bring your A game and you will be rewarded. But thankfully your B game will still get a few to the hand.

Flows nearing the 4K mark. Probably will stay at this level for some time. Meaning weeks? Water temps a bit above historic averages at 58F.

We hear speak about a lower water year and possible Hoot Owl restrictions on other Montana rivers and streams this summer.

Nymphers filling the largest group of anglers on this river are fishing much shorter with the reduction of water levels. A PMD or caddis nymph qualify for better baits. Small and black or small and brown mayfly patterns bring it home and sometimes to the net. Abandon splitshot and live free. Fool around with finding those soft buckets along with middle river structures that continue to produce.

Swingers swinging PMD soft hackles and a few wets. Scandi Style today. Tomorrow too.

Strippers? Ahhh, it’s dry fly season. The rain and shitty weather will e upon us before we can fight back. Toss a dry fly out at a couple. You may dig it; man.
