Craig Bridge Closure Update April 9th via Headhunters Fly Shop
The Bridge is sinking in Craig.
Scheduled work and bridge passage closure beginning April 13th. Attended the Public Works Department meeting last evening in Craig at the old Craig School and here is the latest below.
The Missouri River Bridge will be temporarily closed from April 13 through April 27, 2026, to allow for maintenance and safety improvements. During the closure, all vehicle and pedestrian traffic will be detoured to alternate routes. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and follow posted detour signage.
It could take longer. But the planners do not believe so. Could take 3 weeks. Remains to be seen.
150K in Infastructure Grant monies from Biden Administration will help raise the bridge. It is sinking, has been for some time. Three temporary repairs have been made at either end in the last 15 years. Compression material beneath bridge deck has , compressed. The state will raise the bridge, install an updated compression material and level it up!
There will be plenty of signage at exits 244 and 226, and before, reminding drivers to go around Craig to access frontage road homes, businesses, and Fishing Access Sites, FAS.. Craig can only be accessed through Hiway 15 exit 234. To access Stickney Creek, Spite Hill, Dearborn, Wolf Creek boat ramps you will need to access the frontage road at either of the two hi way exits listed above, They. cannot be accessed by travel though Craig and across the Craig Bridge.
Chip seal and re-striping will be added at completion of the work.
