It is getting better by the day on Montana’s Missouri RIver
Update this Thursday Morning in Craig MT 11AM: Getting better by the day. The last couple dry fly afternoons have been unreal. Rising fish everywhere in the mid afternoon til 5 or 6 pm. Rising to tiny BWO flies in the 22-28 size range. You do not have to toss the small fly to get a response. NOPE. BWO cripples, Adams, and a good CDC or Marabou emerges. Dry dropper in effect as well. Streamer fishing picking up. Very good the past 3 days and will continue to improve as well. Most on the upper reaches nymphing. Lots of water downstream for those interested in a secondary experience. See us in Craig daily 8am. Shuttles, guides, lodging, the best in gear from Skwala, Rising nets, Orris Mission Trout Spey rods, any and all trout spey gear as we are the leader in our region with the most fly lines, reels, rods, and spey education, sale items, and so much more at your favorite fly shop in Montana…or the world?
Come on out if you like good fishing conditions. Low water, easily wadeable, and less traffic daily as we move through this month into November.
Have a great Thrusday. Headed out not he water yet again for a fun day, this author likes to fish…
PostScript: I read other fishing reports daily about the MO. They are mostly nymph driven. There are rising fish, but most, 99%, do not see anything but the bobber. When I lay awake at night thinking about trout fishing an orange blob is not my focus. Is it yours? Do you dream of the bobber? It is primarily the focus of nymph only anglers. Hey, you don’t have to fish nymphs all the time. It is not always about the catch number. You can discover and enjoy the other disciplines of trout fishing. It is not always about who catches the most. In fact, very rarely is fishing about “the catch.” Fishing is about nature, being outside, interacting with animals, fish, friends, sunshine and rain. You can streamer fish, try to fool a trout on a dry fly, swing a soft hackle, or just sit on the shore and take it all in…letting go of the shackles that can hold us back. Do it, try a new technique…break those chains man.
