Dearborn River Flows a bit light

Dearborn River, Montana

Looking forward to an opportunity to fish the Dearborn River this mon th? We are too. But not looking too positive for the proper flows on the Dearborn this spring.

Needs to be 250cfs or higher for proper raft floating flows.

Rain of an inch this early week but not enough to push the flows into even the low 200’s. Topping out at 160-ish-cfs. Will the future bring more precipitation? It should rain on us more. May and June the two wettest o the here in central Montana. 2.5in in June, about 2in in May, of which we have had appox 1in so far.

Boy, doing my snow and rain dance after this post. You should too.

Local river at about 4260cfs. Water temps 51F. Pad’s very soon with the water temps con ti using to climb. Will the fish look up for the tiny BWO with high and bright sun? Nope. Will the fish look up for the bit larger PMD with the high and bright sun? Yes, they will.

So a couple things to update you on today, this Thursday in Craig.

Stop in and say hello to Headhunters whilst in Craig. Eat at Izaak’s or Craig Tap House. Use our shuttle service. Buy lots of flies to improve your happiness level. And update that damn fly line you’ve been threatening to replace for 3 years.

That’ll improve your happiness for sure.

Trust me, I’m a guide.
