Winter Weather? What will February bring? Montana’s Missouri RIver Update.
Windy AF as the kids would say. What would we say? Too windy to cast many of the days this month. Warmer than normal air temps coupled with horrendous winds have made fishing most of the month a bit sketchy. Not for all anglers indeed.
What will February bring? Who knows. More snow we hope.
While the winds have not been too friendly the sting bite has been good. Streamer stripping as well. The water taps at 36F have made for a good bite this winter not withstanding the wind quotient.
Small and black or dark or bright and flashy. Depending on the day. Mostly deep. although a few fish holding in faster than stopped water. Deep? Yes. Shallow? Not really. Medium depths? Certainly. But keep in mind if you are batting for averages and many of us are, the deeper winter pools will still hold the majority of the fish. The yeah buts, that gang, can fish the skinner waters for entertainment. Those looking for a tug, or more than a tug, will stay centered on the deeper water mission.
