Monday on the Missouri River
BWO’s are for snacking!
Overcast skies all week long here in central Montana. That is good for the dry fly angler. Its it good for the nymph angler? Oh yeah, you bet. All good for all. Some wind here and there in the forecast. But the most exciting is the lack of sunshine blinding our trout.
Water temps in the low 50’s at 53F for the Mo. Flows at 4200ish. Flows for thee Dearborn rising slowly rising near 200cfs today. Spring Stream opener this Saturday the 3rd Saturday in May.
Weekends are packed and the midweek traffic pretty heavy with most out there nymphing and fishing the center of the river. The canyon can be quite busy. The upper too. If you can come late, start real early, or figure a way to fish around “most anglers”, you have an advantage. Peak season for sure on the Mo. May and June being the two most fished months.
That’s the news today. Enjoy the first day of the work week. Hope to see you soon.
