Missouri River Fishing Report 8.20.21

Headed into the final stretch of September. We like it. Good water, seasonally appropriate water and air temperatures while we witness the seasonal change here in Craig Montana.

Water temps 59.5F. Flows 3000cfs.

Upper river fishing well. The dam users like Zebra’s, scuds, sows, and some mayfly stuff too. Lightening Bugs and the many BWO fall patterns will keep you interested as well. Big PT’s and GRHE will work for the Callibaetis in play. Short all day long if you wish.

The mayfly eaters like small BWO’s, some tan 14 caddis patterns, and the larger aforementioned gray mayfly. Been seeing some good spinner falls of them and fish will find them. Keep you eyes open, and watch for the rise forms that accompany said mayfly.

Streamer dudes raking. Yep. Bright and bold. Toss it on a dry line or an intermediate. Keep them moving. Fish the center river flats and some of the backlines if they hold enough water.

Swingers? Oh yeah getting them daily. Come by and see us at the shop for any info, sales, or otherwise in downtown Craig Montana. Swing Season is near.

The entire river fishing well. Top to bottom.

Looks like a damn fine fall ahead. Call us to talk about trout. 406-459-8739

Open daily 7am.
