Missouri River September Nymphs

September Missouri River Nymphs

We are headlong into September and time for a nymph update. It is good. Great? No, we have not reached that stage yet.

Definition of great is different for different folks and different rivers…when it is great here, your arm truly is sore from fighting Missouri River trout.

I use great in the connotation of the fish are easy and eating. While they are eating, I would not qualify them as easy. No, not at all. Soft takes and subtle looks have kept us on our toes this early September.

Many folks are nymphing on the upper at Holter Dam and many are spreading out again as the river cools allowing varied floats on a daily basis.
